THE Food Standards Agency, which will be launched on Monday, will have the interests of consumers at the heart of all its decisions.
John Krebs, the agencys chairman, will stress that consumers will be at the heart of all its decisions on Monday (Apr 3) – the agencys first working day.
Prof Krebs is likely to say that a clear commitment to serve the best interests of consumers and operate in an open and independent way.
However, he will add that the activities of the new agency will have to prove themselves to the public and other stake holders.
Speaking to Farmers Weekly prior to the launch, an FSA spokesman said the agency will act by following three core values.
“It will put the consumer first, be open and accessible and be an independent voice,” he said.
