Food writers attack use of GM food

MORE than 100 leading food writers are backing a campaign by Greenpeace for a ban on genetically-modified (GM) food.

The campaign is a further blow to the pioneers of GM crops such as Monsanto, which has come under attack in the UK for its attempts to push the products.

The food writers intervention marks the latest round in the public relations battle over GM crops.

Last week, a report by a House of Lords committee said that the potential benefits of GM food greatly outweighed the risks. Greenpeace attacked the finding.
