French BSE numbers ‘to double’

THE number of BSE cases in France is set to double, according to a leading French government civil servant reported in the Daily Mail.

The comment was made by Marion Guillou, a civil servant with the French agriculture ministry, after another BSE case was revealed in France.

There have been 22 cases of BSE in France this year – “well up on the same time in 1999”, reported the Mail.

The latest case involved an animal belonging to a farmer in La Flachere, south-east France, the paper reveals.
