French truck drivers block highways over pay

FRENCH truck drivers started blockading motorways today – just two weeks before the kick-off of the World Cup – in a bid to secure better rates of pay.

They are demanding that a deal struck with haulage firms late last year be fully implemented. About 15 motorways across the country have been hit by the industrial action.
