Fuel protesters admit defeat?

FUEL protesters appear to have admitted defeat in their battle with the Government, reports The Times.

At a meeting at Castle Donnington, Leicestershire, leaders pulled back from organising any further protests.

Instead, the Fuel Forum they said they would keep up a dialogue with the Government.

A protest convoy to London in November failed to attract the same public support as blockades of oil refineries in September.

Concessions by Chancellor Gordon Brown in the pre-Budget statement persuaded some farmers leaders to call for an end to protests.
