Gel might increase herbicide efficiency
GROWERS should be able to use herbicides more economically and in a more environmentally-friendly way with the development of a new product from the University of Bradfords School of Pharmacy.
Researchers there claim the consistency of their unique hydrogel, made almost entirely of water, can be adjusted to control the quantity and speed at which the active ingredients become available.
The gel, for which a patent is being sought, is also expected to be useful in soaking up oil pollution, transporting medicines and even growing new skin cells. *
