GM backlash spreads to USA
US consumer and environmental groups are throwing their weight into campaigns against genetically modified (GM) foods.
The Consumers Union, the largest consumer organisation in the USA, is backing calls for the labelling of genetically modified (GM) foods.
Friends of the Earth, the worlds largest international environmental organisation, also plans to raise awareness about the widespread use of GM foods.
It plans to make the topic a priority at the World Trade Organisation ministerial summit in Seattle in November.
