GM buys stake in AMS

GASGOIGNE Merlotte – maker of the Zenith milking robot – has now taken a majority holding in AMS Liberty, which also makes robot milking equipment.

Management and product support will be centralised at GMs offices in Basingstoke.

With both firms using a design patented by Dutch company Proline, there are many common parts between the Liberty and Zenith units. The GM and Liberty link is, therefore, considered to be a logical step by both companies.

Robotic milking installations in the UK are reported to be "showing significant signs of growth", but Holland remains the main centre of activity for such machines. &#42
