GM soya ‘is not as healthy’

GENETICALLY modified (GM) soya may be less healthy than food from traditional varieties, scientists claim this week in the Journal of Medicinal Food.

Soya foods contain high levels of phytoestrogens, a substance understood to help protect people from breast cancer, heart disease and brittle bones.

But a recent study has found that the level of phytoestrogens in GM soya is lower than in conventional soya.
