Green groups issue species warning
By FWi staff
PRECIOUS wildlife is in a perilous state of decline due to loss of habitat and intensive agriculture, warn environmental groups.
They say species such as the skylark and dormouse are at risk, and the Government is not doing enough the tackle the problem, reports the Daily Express.
Among groups which compiled a report highlighting concerns are the Royal Society for the Protection of Birds, the Wildlife Trust and Friends of the Earth.
Collectively known as the Biodiversity Challenge Group, they have launched a 10-point plan to protect wildlife.
They claim that the Governments Biodiversity Action Plan has been too slow and ineffective, reports the Express.
