Grove HFs go in Carmarthenshire

TOP price was 2100gns at the first sale to disperse the Grove herd of Holstein Friesians for John Williams, St Clears, Carmarthenshire.

The prefix, made famous by noted breeder Dyfrig Williams whose retirement sale achieved a record average of £4567 in 1983, has been maintained by son John. Now the familys expanding leisure business has prompted the final dispersal.

The Treetop herd of J G Morgan, Llandysul, Ceredigion paid the top price for Grove Mauritsa 43rd, a freshly calved heifer by Rotate Jed and out of a Southwind dam. The 79 cows and served heifers averaged £940. (Norton and Brooksbank).
