Hague calls for power probe
CONSERVATIVE party leader William Hague has called for an inquiry into the health risks associated with living or working close to high voltage power lines.
His call follows the revelation in last weeks FW that a cluster of cancer deaths has been identified alongside a power line running through part of his Richmond constituency in North Yorks. Mr Hague says he wrote to the Health Secretary Alan Milburn, asking him to look at the evidence uncovered by local NFU Branch Secretary Peter Edmonds. Now he says a full inquiry is needed.
preferably before work begins on a new 400,000 volt line between Teesside and York.
