HGCA sees high yields cut UK feed wheat price

  • Delivered prices for feed wheat fell by between
£1.50 and £2.00/t over the week, in
response to reports of the high yields that had been
    harvested over the week.

  • Traders noted that, while the effects of the recent
wet weather were variable around the country,
wheat quality had been affected, and therefore milling
quality supplies may be lower than previously
    expected.

  • Export markets were more active during the week,
with reported buying interest responding to the
    lower UK feed wheat prices.

  • Traders reported sales of feed wheat to EU
destinations such as the Netherlands, Germany,
Portugal and Eire over the week.

  • Export markets were quiet again at the end of the
week, in anticipation of more information on the
    crop following the long weekend.
