Holidays put money in the farmer’s pocket
FARM holidays are putting much-needed money back into farmers pockets in the face of bleak conditions and the strong Pound, according to Scottish Farmhouse Holidays.
Warwickshire-based Farm Holiday Bureau also reports a rise in bookings. Its analysis of bookings in 1997 reveal that bookings through the bureaus “Stay on a Farm” initiative generated more than £500,000 income with B&B accounting for almost £340,000, and the rest coming from self-catering. There are 100 farms on the bureaus books and only a third were surveyed.
The Scottish Agricultural College will be running a three-day conference on the subject at Auchincruive on 6 September.
