Home Office moves to unmask hunt saboteurs

POLICE are to be given new powers to remove masks and balaclavas from hunt saboteurs and rioters who deliberately conceal their identities.

Alun Michael, the Home Office minister, will table an amendment to the Crime and Disorder Bill next week which would allow the unmasking of people after they are arrested.

Police officers would have to be satisfied they were deliberately concealing their identity for the balaclavas and face coverings to be removed.

The Countryside Alliance said it was a welcome move to ensure people were not intimidated.
