Hunting ban in Scotland faces delay

A BAN on foxhunting is Scotland is not expected to go ahead until the next Scottish parliament elections in 2003, reports The Daily Telegraph.

Court action by the Countryside Alliance is anticipated to push the period for proceedings towards that date.

Lord Watson of Invergowrie, the Labour peer behind the Bill, is unwilling to go ahead with the legislation unless the legal challenge has been defeated.

He vowed last year to have the ban north of the border in place before this seasons hunting season begins in the autumn.
