Iceland appoints new chairman
By FWI staff
ICELAND, which has seen shares slump, has appointed George Greener as its new non-executive chairman, reports The Daily Telegraph.
Mr Greener has experience in the food and retail sectors as non-executive director of Reckitt Benckiser. He is also chairman of British Waterways.
Previously he worked at Mars, BAT Financial Services and Hillsdown Holdings.
Iceland shares plummeted after founder and former chairman Malcolm Walker unsuccessfully switched many lines to organic produce.
He now faces a Department of Trade and Industry inquiry into allegations of insider dealing after selling a 13.5 million stake shortly before a profits warning.
