IGERseed mix lifts grass production
PRODUCTION figures can be boosted using a new range of grass seed mixtures developed at the Institute of Grassland and Environmental Research, claims supplier Genus.
Grass and clover varieties included are NIAB approved and bred at IGER Aberystwyth.
Genus says these seed mixtures aim to improve the long-term efficiency of grass and animal production. Its two-year silage ley has a high D-value and high intake potential and could generate extra production worth £134 a cow provided they are of high index, it claims.
Four mixtures are available. When 20 or more acre-packs are ordered the two-year silage ley mix costs £27.50/acre, the three to four-year silage ley is £33/acre, the five-year dual purpose ley is £34/acre and the seven-year grazing ley £35/acre (01270-536536).
