CALCIUM may help control black scurf in potatoes, according to fertiliser manufacturer Hydro Agri. A Norfolk trial found a top-dressing of calcium nitrate gave significantly less of the unsightly disease than the same amount of N as ammonium nitrate. The outcome was a net extra £142.30/ha (£57.60/acre).n
