IN BRIEF
• RED clover is ideal for summer grazing, and more drought tolerant than lucerne, making it a valuable source of home-grown protein.
GRAS technical adviser Robin Turne advises spring reseeding with red clover for best establishment.
Red clover can be established with grass, to prolong the clovers productivity and reduce risk of bloat, because it can withstand more shading from grass in the seedling stage than other legumes, he adds.
