SOLUBLE after-cut fertilisers should be used in current dry conditions, says ICI Fertilisers. It claims its uncoated Kaynitro took just 10 minutes to dissolve in tests compared with coated K which showed no signs of dissolving after five hours. ICI believes nutrient uptake is important after the second cut where a delay in availablity of one week could reduce yields by 1.2t/ha (0.5t/acre).
