India to increase palm oil production
THE Indian government has approved a plan which will see it spend more than $41m to boost palm oil production and the domestic availability of edible oils.
Financial assistance will be provided to farmers for the supply of seedlings, cultivation costs and training.
The government hopes to bring 80,000ha (197,677 acres) of land under cultivation in addition to 30,000ha (74,128 acres) already planned.
