ITtraining grants

FARMERS in eastern England are getting subsidised training to boost their computer skills.

Keyboard skills, spreadsheets, e-mailing, accessing the internet and using IT based packages such as the HGCAs grain marketing challenge will be included.

The courses in June aim to train at least 270 people in four sessions of three hours each. Project collaborators include the HGCA, NFU, National Pig Association and local agricultural colleges.

A £30,000 grant from the East of England Development agency, plus matched funding from the HGCA, means the delegate cost is cut from £200 to £40 + VAT.

Plans are afoot to launch similar training through Englands seven other RDAs. More information from (0870 2414579). &#42
