Jail for burglar shot by farmer

TWO unemployed men were jailed yesterday after admitting conspiring to burgle a Norfolk farmhouse with a 16-year-old, who was shot dead.

The farmer, Tony Martin, 54, is now awaiting trial for murder.

Brendan Fearon, 29, of Newark, Nottinghamshire, was imprisoned for three years. Darren Bark, 33, also of Newark, was sentenced to 30 months.

Both had pleaded guilty at Norwich Crown Court to conspiring to burgle the Emneth home of Martin.

Judge David Mellor was told that Mr Bark and Mr Fearon were accompanied by Fred Barras.

Mr Martin disturbed Mr Fearon and Mr Barras late at night. Mr Barras died as a result of shotgun injuries and Mr Fearon, left with 196 shotgun pellets in his upper thighs, was now disabled.
