JDs flagship combine gets cab revamp

JOHN Deeres flagship CTS combine harvester has been given a facelift for 2000 with the introduction of a more ergonomically designed cab.

Dubbed the CommandTouch, the cab has an armrest-integrated control lever, operated from the comfort of a new pneumatic seat.

The control lever operates main machine functions such as the unloading auger, automatic header float/height and quick-stop control.

When these functions are instigated, the settings are automatically displayed on the combines InfoTrak monitor. This unit and the existing VisionTrak and ContourMaster control monitors are now all grouped on the cab corner post.

Other in-cab electronic improvements comprise automatic air conditioning and a laser-operated tailings monitor with automatic calibration.

Outside the cab, emphasis has been on capacity – 20% more for the grain elevator and a 570-litre fuel tank.

Cosmetic changes include brighter infra-red lights and optional in-cab adjustment for the straw chopper deflector. List price of the CTS combine, including a standard 7.6m (25ft) header, is £164,412 – 13% cheaper than last year.
