Last call for older cows
By FWi staff
FARMERS who have not yet registered their older cattle with the British Cattle Movement Service have only days to complete the exercise.
Tom Hind, of the National Farmers Union, has reminded producers that the compulsory registration exercise will come to a close on 29 January.
Although BCMS estimate that it now has details of 98% of the GB herd it is important that farmers who have not registered do so, he said.
From 29 January, all cattle, regardless of age, must be registered on the Cattle Tracing System and their movements and deaths reported to BCMS.
From then it will be an offence to keep or move unregulated animals.
Farmers who have already returned information should contact BCMS if the paperwork has not arrived by the deadline and they want to move animals on.
