Launch for Fair Deal campaign
SHADOW farm minister Tim Yeo has launched the Tory partys "Fair Deal for Farmers" campaign.
Mr Yeo, MP for Suffolk South, is travelling across the country talking to farmers about their difficulties and seeing what can be done to help.
"Farmers deserve a fair deal from retailers where prices on the shelf have not fallen in line with prices at the farm gate," he said.
Mr Yeo aims to present his findings to supermarket bosses within the next few months. He also hopes to persuade the government that more can be done to help farmers who are suffering the worst recession since the 1930s.
"Farmers deserve a fair deal from the government who have imposed burden after burden on them with the high level of the £ over the last 15 months," he said. *
