M&S denies caving in to farmers over lamb

MARKS & SPENCER denied that pressure from farmers had forced it to return to
selling home-killed Scottish lamb alongside New Zealand between January and May.

The company said it was concerned about what it saw as the variable eating
quality of home-killed lamb. Chris Gilbert-Wood, red-meat section co-ordinator,
said: “The quantity we will accept is not huge.”
