pulls top price

MAERDY and Blelack breeding combined to produce the top price at the first production sale of Charolais cattle from Northern Ireland breeder Gilbert Crawfords Cool Na Slee herd at Maghera.

Star attraction was Cool N Slee Nora, the show heifer by Blelack Jedburgh and out of a cow by Maerdy Gabriel. She had more than good looks to her credit. With a Beef Value of 21, she is in the top 10% of the breed on BLUP performance. Nora made 3000gns to join the newly established Fotheringham herd of Gordon McWilliam, Lurgan.

Young cows with calves at foot sold to 2050gns paid by Hugh Nugent, Toomebridge; best of the second calvers was a strong cow with the powerful sire Bowerhouses Topper and a past Royal Show champion Fleets Vibrant in her pedigree. She had a bull calf at foot and made 1600gns to Malcolm Hall, Lisnaskea.(Automart). &#42
