MDC strategy wins approval

GOVERNMENTS review of the Milk Development Council has been completed, with the MDC remit renewed for a further five years from Feb 7, 1998.

Making the announcement, junior farm minister, Lord Donoughue, said the present maximum levy rate of 0.05p/litre of milk sold would be retained.

"A public consultation exercise during the summer has confirmed that the MDC commands widespread support, both within the dairy farming industry and beyond," he said.n
