Meat inspectors to discuss improved pay offer

MEAT inspectors will next week discuss an improved pay offer that emerged during talks at the conciliation service Acas.

A one-day strike by inspectors earlier this month closed abattoirs across the country.

The union Unison wants a rise which would add 4% to the salary bill to be nearer to the 4.7% paid to other Ministry of Agriculture, Fisheries and Food staff.
