MASSEY Ferguson has filled out its large rectangular baler range with the introduction of the MF187 model.
Described as providing a halfway house for users wanting a bale size between the MF185 and the MF190, the new baler produces a 1.2m (3.9ft) wide x 88cm (2.9ft) high bale adjustable in length up to 2.5m (8.2ft). In terms of weight a straw bale produced by the new machine is 40% heavier than the MF185s but 25% less than the MF190.
As on the other balers in the range, crop is first fed from the 2.2m (7ft) wide floating pick up to a pre-compression chamber which forms a complete mini cross section of the bale.
This is then released into the main bale chamber when pressure on a sensor plate reaches the density level preset by the operator – the bale is built up from a series of these wads, with monitoring and control of density via load cells on the plunger.
Baler specification includes automatic lubrication, with drive lines and components shear bolt, slip clutch or overrun clutch protected, all monitored in cab.
Other standard equipment includes a six knotter double knot tying system and twine capacity for 30 balls, bale ejector, hydraulic brakes, full road and work lighting, and 700/50-22.5 12 ply flotation tyres.
