Milk Marque plans expansion
MILK MARQUE has applied for planning permission to build a £50 million butter and milk powder factory near Cullompton, Devon.
The move is likely to enrage dairy companies, which buy much of their milk from Milk Marque. They will see it as a move into processing and a direct competitive threat.
When the deregulation of the milk industry took place in 1994, the processing arm of the old Milk Marketing Board was separated as an independent company, Dairy Crest.
