Ministry report backs robot farming
A REPORT by the Ministry of Agriculture urges farmers to adopt robots in production.
Robots can currently pick citrus fruit, tomatoes, grapes, cucumbers, aubergines and water melons.
One of the reports authors claims machines are being developed for automatic pig slaughtering, as well as driverless tractoring.
British development takes place at the Silsoe Research Institute at Bedford.
The institute is perfecting a robotic sheep dog, a smart hoe and a tree climbing robot that harvests dates.
