Mixed reaction to bi-annual Pig Fair

By Simon Wragg

THE decision by RASE to hold the Pig & Poultry Fair as a bi-annual event in the future has met a mixed response from exhibitors.

Several big businesses – such as pig breeders Cotswold – have already taken the decision not to attend each year due to the cost of exhibiting, put at over 10/mm trade stand space.

But smaller companies feel the need to meet existing and prospective customers each year.

However, several said in intermediate years they would display at the Yorkshire-based People In Pigs event, held at Bishop Burton College, near Hull.

Attendance figures for the first day were visibly down, said traders.
