Mixed results for Moorland

THE outlying portions of Moorland Court Farm, Somerset were recently offered at auction with mixed results.

Near Bridgwater about 104 acres of mainly pasture land was lotted into nine units ranging from just over an acre to 38 acres. But at the auction Greenslade Taylor Hunt managed to sell six lots with another selling immediately afterwards privately. A total of 59 acres were sold averaging £2360/acre with a 1.23-acre paddock selling to the Environment Agency for £8211/acre and nearly 21 acres of pasture was knocked down at £2012/acre.

A 38-acre block of arable and pasture was withdrawn at £70,000 and 8 acres with a range of modern farm buildings failed to find a bidder beyond £85,000.

Also at auction Meller Braggins sold nearly 10 acres of grazing at Higher Poynton, Cheshire for £63,000. The land had road frontage and a mains water supply. &#42
