MLCs market outlook on road

THE Meat and Livestock Commission is to take its annual market outlook around England in a series of mini-regional conferences.

The events co-ordinator, the organisations chief beef economist Duncan Sinclair, said 12 meetings will be held in counties that have been designated F&M-free, or will be when the conferences run.

"Producers in these areas are still having to produce stock to meet the markets requirements, but under a new regime."

Each conference will last a couple of hours, concentrating on a market briefing to outline what impact F&M has had on the market and its subsequent effects on next year.

The speakers will also highlight other changes, such as reform to CAP and the beef regime, which are planned from next year.

Each conference will then turn to more technical matters, such as breeding information and performance figures. For more information, producers should contact their regional MLC headquarters or phone 01908-844268. &#42
