Money off IT training for English farmers

By Olivia Cooper

FARMERS in central and southern England can get up to 75% off the cost of computer training.

The offer follows a successful bid for government funds by agricultural computer specialist, Landmark.

The bid for funding through Defras European Rural Development Plan was finalised in October, and the company has trained over 140 farmers since then.

“The courses have proved such a success that we are hoping to get another grant to run more next spring,” said Landmarks Pauline Stanley.

A second round will be run in the New Year, and courses are available either on a one-to-one basis on-farm or in groups at a selected venue.

“IT can cut farm costs through financial planning, record keeping and cropping plans,” said Mrs Stanley.

“We can advise on the best systems to suit individual needs, as well as providing the training needed to get the most out of them.”
