Monitor will sniff out dodgy gases

POTENTIALLY lethal concentrations of carbon dioxide in confined spaces can be detected by the Airwatch 1750HR fixed position monitor from Environmental Instruments.

Designed to meet all new international performance standards, the monitor operates on dual wavelength infra-red technology and has two pre-set audible and visual alarms.

Improvements from previous versions include an IrDA link for on location calibration, which is said to be only needed on an annual basis. Options include a repeater module to replicate alarms outside the sensing area and a relay output to activate ventilation systems, shut off valves or additional alarms. Price is £150.
