Monsanto tries to stop share slide
MERGER partners Monsanto and Pharmacia & Upjohn (P&U) have released estimates of current year profit and forecasts of earnings growth after 2000.
This is in response to continuing concerns about the performance of Monsantos agribusiness unit.
Shares in both companies tumbled after they revealed their merger plan.
Investors had expressed concerns that there was a risk of litigation from Monsantos leading role in genetically modified crops technology.
Share prices in both companies inched ahead after both companies released current-year profits and forecasts of earnings growth after 2000.
