US life sciences giant Monsanto appeared at one stage a few years ago to be set for meteoric growth on the back of the rosy forecasts made for the future of genetically modified crops.

But since then its star has since fallen as a wave of bad publicity has enveloped GM technology, claims The Guardian

It says the biotech concern has been humbled by “a few determined activists and European consumer power.”
