New calf welfare rules this week
NEW rules for calf welfare come into operation this week.
Under the requirements, all calves in pens must be allowed to see and have contact with other calves, and they must be out of their individual pens by eight weeks of age.
They must also be fed twice a day, bear no tethers if single-penned, and get more space.
