FARMERS WEEKLY has teamed up with vehicle event organiser Live Promotions to launch a new 4×4 and country vehicle show for the farming community next September.

"Weve watched with interest how specialised farming events have been successfully created and we are also very aware of how many long-standing county shows have slowly drifted away from their traditional farming roots," explained Live Promotions managing director Colin Ward. "A specific event, firmly focused on farming vehicles such as 4x4s, pick-ups, estates and diesels and where farmers can test drive them as well, is long overdue."

The venue for the new show is Grimsthorpe Castle in Lincs – once selected by the CLA for its annual Game Fair and reputed to be Englands oldest parkland. Grimsthorpe is also an active working farm and estate.

The grounds of this stately home will offer a wide variety of locations for test drives ranging from quarry drives to forest runs through ancient oaks and general farm track conditions. Exhibitors will be able to select which course is ideal for the vehicle they wish to demonstrate.

Other attractions are likely to include ATVs, clay pigeon shooting, fashion shows, helicopter rides and falconry. It will take place over two days Sept 11 and 12, 1999.

"We aim to create an annual vehicle event for farmers," said Colin Ward, "something that will become a firm date within the farming diary – so that farmers can clearly focus their attention on 4x4s and country cars at one specific event purposely designed for them".

Some of the vehicles you can expect to see at the event: L200 doublecab (left), Volvo XC 4wd and Subaru Outback 4WD (below).

…plus new Discovery and updated Defender, and many more offerings from 4×4 and country car manufacturers.
