New flood threat to China’s farmers
FLOODS in Chinas main river, the Yangtze, are threatening the livelihoods of many of the countrys farmers.
The Guardian reports that hundreds of miles of river banks protect densely populated farmland which lies well below the water level.
But it says crops have already been devastated in half a dozen provinces.
Floods also hit the country last year.
