New study into ‘pharming’
By FWi staff
BRITAINS senior scientific committee has commissioned an independent study of the use of genetically modified animals in agriculture and pharmacy.
The Royal Society says the study will examine public concerns about risks to people and the environment and welfare to the animals, reports the Financial Times.
This will include “pharming” in which farm animals are genetically engineered to secrete valuable human proteins in their milk.
