NFU fudge over illegal imports

NFU fudge over illegal imports
I FEEL that NFU once again is fudging its response to the question of the illegal imports of meat from third world countries.
The fact that suitcases oozing blood and maggots from countries where human – let alone foot-and-mouth – diseases are rife is disgusting, apart from meat that is entering the country hidden in containers.
When it is reported in the farming press that MAFF has been informed of this but has taken no action, heads should roll.
Let FARMERS WEEKLY send all its information to the NFU and the government and, if no satisfactory response is forthcoming, within a very short time arrange for the publishing of this info in
national press.
If other countries can search all travellers for food on entering their country, it should be possible here.
Although I agree with the ban on swill feeding and movement controls, the way that it has been reported by the media smacks of farmer-bashing.
