NFU president asks for hardship help

David Naish, president of the National Union of Farmers, makes a plea
for transitional assistance for the industry as Britains farmers face
the rigours of world markets.

Naish, in a letter to the Financial Times, says the NFU has
taken an “active and constructive part” in the debate running up to the
reform of the Common Agricultural Policy because we recognise the need
for it.

He also says that British farmers have suffered special economic
hardship from the beef crisis.
