Old forage harvesters turned into mowers

OLD self-propelled foragers never die – they become self-propelled mowers. At least, that is the thinking behind the latest development from Lynx Engineering.

The company has developed a front linkage and pto unit which can be attached to a self-propelled unit that has had its chopping system and related drives removed.

With a 3.5t lift capacity, the linkage and pto drive is claimed to be suitable for operating mower conditioners up to 8m wide – the pto is rated at 200hp.

Lynx points out that its linkage system could give new life to an ageing machine. Kits to fit JD 5000, New Holland 1900, Claas 600/800 and Mengele Mamoth forage harvesters are available with prices around the £6075 mark.
