WITH organic farming currently the most buoyant sector in the agricultural industry, SAC has introduced a new postgraduate course to support its development.

While many sections of the industry are financially depressed and under serious pressure as a result of consumer concerns over food quality, environment and animal welfare issues, organic farming is exhibiting spectacular expansion, it says.

That expansion, coupled with the relative lack of educational and training opportunities specific to organic farming, has resulted in a shortage of graduates with the necessary skills and knowledge.
