Organic Scots kept waiting for news

SCOTTISH farmers will have to wait until after the 6 May elections before hearing how the new organic farming scheme will affect them, reports The Herald.

Agriculture Minister Nick Brown committed more support yesterday (Monday) for farmers in England who convert to organic growing.

Payment rates are rising from £250 to £450 per hectare (2.4 acres) over five years for most arable and temporary grassland, under the new scheme in England.
